Last week, Owner Nate Same shocked the RVA Food World when he announced that he was closing up at the end of July. In the message, he mentioned declining sales as a reason for the decision. Now, I can speculate a few things. I think there may be something else going on here, because a few months ago, Sams was talking about expanding the restaurant into full dinner service and a bar. A few months later, he is being forced to close down. Whatever the reasoning is, the fact remains that Louisiana Flair will cease operations.
There has been much outrage about this. People are not happy to see one of Richmond’s best downtown lunch spots go under. I agree. This place has really good food, and it should stay open. Nate has a way of welcoming all into his establishment. There are way too many positives about this place, that we should be compelled to help in anyway we can.
So yesterday, current employee and fellow blogger Paul Hammond helped fuel a campaign to save Louisiana Flair. The message was simple!
Welcome, as we all know Chef Nate has fallen on hard times and is planning to close our favorite restaurant. We need help to locate another location and a partner to help him both relocate and remain in business. Nate does a lot for everyone else, lets return the favor and keep real Cajun food in Richmond.
Will this campaign work? I don’t know, but we will never know if we never try. So consider me as one of Nate’s army, and let’s keep this place alive by joining the Facebook group and get your friends to join along with you. Let’s show Nate some support

I’d love to see Nate stick around. Perhaps a mobile cart operation, with less overhead?
